Troparil is a potent stimulant and is part of the phenyltropane group. UPAC: (-) – 2β-carbomethoxy-3β-phenyltropane, WIN 35,065-2, β-CPT). Troparil is much more potent than cocaine. Troparil acts as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, but is less effective as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which means that the duration of action is much longer than that of cocaine. The absence of an etheric bond makes this drug lacking a local anesthetic effect, but the stimulatory properties are higher and less cardiotoxic than cocaine. The form of troparil is the tartrate salt, or hydrochloride, or sulfate salts. Troparil is one of the most popular synthetic cocaine analogues.
