It is a high-affinity sigma receptor ligand, selective for the σ2 subtype, and can produce both sedative, stimulant, and dissociative effects, as shown in studies in mice.
3-Me-PCPy is positioned as a designer substance and is not banned for research purposes in a number of countries, but may fall under the arylcyclohexylamine analogues law, as it is an exemption, in countries such as the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia.
