Adinazolam (commercial name Deracyn) is a triazolobenzodiazepine tranquilizer and is a benzodiazepine connected to a triazole ring. It has antidepressant, sedative, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant pharmacological properties. Adinazolam was developed as an alternative to alprazolam with great antidepressant properties and was first synthesized by Jackson B. Hester, but this drug was never approved due to its possible abuse.
Adinazolam binds to peripheral-type benzodiazepine receptors, which allosterically interact with GABA receptors.
With caution of using the drug with other benzodiazepines and opioids. An overdose of adinazolam includes decreased reflexes, muscle weakness, ataxia, dysarthria and possibly further coma.
